Chapped Lips
Does anyone else get chapped lips as much as I do? I can't stand it! Every school year, on comes the chapped-ness. It seems that througout the weekend, they are just fine, but as soon as I get to school on a Monday morning and get going, they get to chappin'. I think it is because I am literally talking ALLLLL DAY LONG.....literally. I like to sit still in the quiet after the kids leave and just NOT TALK...at all. I sometimes don't talk from around 3:30-5:30. Even after that, I don't have much to say. I am hoping this is normal. As for the chapped lips, I will take any advice you can give me. If you say to drink plenty of water...been there, done that.....no need to waste time typing that. If you say Blistex or other chapped lip meds...been there, done that.... BUT, if you know of some home remedy or some sort of other thing to try, I am all ears....HELP!

Today sucks
Well, I am out of school today because of Gustav. Yesterday I was excited to see that we would be out so that the higer-ups could assess the damages to the schools. However, today, I am bored....again. I hate missing work and having to make it up. If I were sick or just wanted to stay home, that would be one thing. You don't have to make those days up. But when it is mandatory, everyone will eventually have to make it up. I think it sucks because I was just off yesterday and don't really need two days off. So, here I am......about to go to Target, I guess. I do have lesson plans to write so I guess I will do that later. Of course, I needed to write those plans on Friday, but totally procrastinated, and here it is the day before and I am scurrying around trying to figure out what I am going to do for the remainder of this week.
Also, I am quite interested in the whole, "Bristol Palin is pregnant and 17" issue. Thoughts? I am saddened to think that the media will take this and run with it. I appreciate Obama's statement....stay out of family issues. THANK YOU! It is their situation, not America's. I have a friend at work that had a child when she was 18. She is well educated, has a college degree, and is a fantastic teacher. She has an amazing son who is well behaved and may even have a football scholarship. More importantly, no one ridiculed or criticized her or her family for the birth of her son......

My sweet girl
Here's Lucky. She has been Ryan's dog since 1999. She is nine years old and still acts like a puppy. I have grown to LOVE her......I never thought I would say that. Not that I thought I could not love HER...I have never been a dog lover. I think it is a combination of things. When I was growing up, my brother was allergic to dogs. So, we never had a dog. We always had our family cat.....Skippy. I liked Skippy O.K....he could be REALLY REALLY mean, but I think that had a lot to do with my brother deviling Skippy whenever he possibly could. My dad had dogs, but I was never at his house long enough to form a bond/relationship with them.
I also have this thing with being clean. I can't stand not being clean. Being covered in dog hair doesn't really make me think of the words CLEAN....so I have always had that going against my love for animals. However, now, I just take my lint brush and vacuum....and everything is good as new.
Lucky is now a part of my family. I talk to her just as I would to Ryan or my mother. I ask her everyday how her day was as I love on her. I have to love and hug on her before I go to bed, and she sleeps on the floor next to me every night. I can not imagine my life now, without her. AND, the craziest thing is that I am looking forward to adding to our family by getting another dog.....I never thought I would love animals like I do!
Meet Ryan and Kristin....Lucky too!
So, here we are. I am super excited about starting this blog. I NEVER thought I would start a blog....however, after much surfing and obsessing over others' blogs, I decided I would give it a try. I would like to thank Meg, Holly, Betsy, and Lindsey for giving me what seems like hours of entertainment as I read your blogs. I also have gotten thrown into Ashley Bull's life (though she doesn't even know it!) and find myself praying for her successful adoption! So, with this all being said, I thought it would be fun to get started. Also, Hurricane Gustav has left me BORED and the house is completely cleaned (I couldn't imagine living in a house without power smelling stale, so yesterday I scoured the place just incase we lost power and actually had a storm on our hands), so what else do I have to do? BLOG.....here we go!
